Governor Gas Tax Relief in the Works
Governor Gavin Newsom wants to save California motorists money on fuel costs. Newsom is proposing a suspension or delay of taxes on gasoline and diesel this year, and even over the next two years if "economic conditions warrant it." Motorists in The Golden State already pay the most per gallon than any other part of the U.S. Many state Republicans are supportive of the delay. However, Russell Snyder of the California Asphalt Pavement Association says Newsom is proposing a "budget stunt" that will only worsen conditions on state roads and freeways.
