CSU Trustees Issues Scathing Report
After a comprehensive review of Chico State's Title IX and sexual
harrassment policies...the Chancellor's office has released a series
of recommendations to improve the climate.
The review comes in the wake of harrassment allegations against
a former professor who was allowed to keep his job despite threats
against fellow professors and students.
Staff members with the Chancellor's office investigated
the school and found the University needed to strengthen
their internal review processs....students also told
investigators that the office location on campus was
"imposing and intimidating."
The report found that new federal regulations designed
to strengthen the Title IX investigations....INSTEAD
led to a regulatory process that discouraged victims from
coming forward.....allowing for lengthy investigations
and the cross examination of victims
Chico State has a new President who vows to fix
the issues highlighted in the report.
