Housing Prices Rise in State

In California, even traditionally less expensive inland areas are becoming less affordable. Rising prices, driven by demand from coastal Californians seeking cheaper properties, have put housing out of reach for many with limited means. According to the Council for Community and Economic Research, four of the top ten most expensive urban areas in the US are located in California. Housing costs are the main driver of the state's high cost of living, which is 42-percent more expensive than the nationwide average. Despite this, California continues to attract people, and remote workers are now considering cities beyond the state's priciest areas.
