Northstate Congressman Doug LaMalfa is trying to lobby his fellow conservatives on a tax bill that will help fire victims. The measure passed the House Ways and Means Committee Thursday Morning by a vote of 38-0 Republican Doug LaMalfa along with Democrat Mike Thompson are pushing HR 4970 which exempts fire victims from paying federal taxes on their settlement monies. LaMalfa hopes to get a vote on the House Floor Next week
