Gov Signs Food Safety Bill
Governor Gavin Newsom has signed a new law that prohibits food labels like "sell by" or "best before." The labels can be confusing because in California there is no universal meaning for the labels under current laws. The state wants to make it easier for people to know when their food is still good to eat. The law is the first of its kind and aims to reduce food waste and the Golden State's impact on the environment.
