The Chico Area Recreation & Park District (CARD) is making significant progress on its much-anticipated aquatic and recreation facility. The CARD Board of Directors has awarded the construction contract to local contractor Slater & Son for the estimated $30 million project. The facility, to be built on a 10-acre parcel on Garner Lane, at the former site of Sunset HIlls Golf Course. The project's groundbreaking could take place as early as the end of April. The facility is set to open by the fall of 2026. The Park will feature water slides, a lazy river, a 50-meter swimming pool and more.
