A woman is dead after an officer-involved shooting with the Butte County Sheriff's Office on Thursday afternoon. Deputies were dispatched to the the 11000 block of Butte Creek Island Road around 2:39 p.m. Thursday after receiving reports of a disturbance involving a female.Upon arrival at the scene, deputies observed the woman armed with a rifle. The woman, aged 48, allegedly pointed the rifle at the responding deputies and demanded that they shoot her. A deputy fired one shot at the female from his service rifle, striking the woman. he Butte County Officer Involved Shooting Protocol Team, including the District Attorney's Office, is actively investigating the incident.
