Red Bluff Police were dispatched to the area of Main Street and Highway 36 West at 9:20 a.m. on Monday, June 16, for a report of a possible stolen bicycle. When they arrived, officers tried to detain the man, who they said physically resisted their efforts. Additional officers arrived to assist and placed the man in custody. Police said the man began showing signs of medical distress. Officers immediately initiated life-saving measures and requested emergency medical assistance. However, despite CPR and other efforts by officers and responding medical personnel, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation is ongoing..
