Calif reaches Clean Energy Status

California has achieved clean energy for part of the day on over 90 percent of days so far this year. That according to new data from the California Energy Commission. Clean energy has powered California for the equivalent of just about 52 days. That's nearly 30 percent of the year and represents a 750-percent increase from 2022. In 2025, the state's grid has run on one-hundred percent clean electricity for an average of seven hours daily. Governor Newsom announced earlier this year the addition of over 25-thousand megawatts of new energy capacity in the past five years, nearly half of what was needed during last year's highest demand.
