Newsome pleads with Trump to end Redistricting
California Governor Gavin Newsom is urging President Trump to end his calls for redistricting. Newsom issued a letter to Trump warning that GOP efforts to draw more favorable maps ahead of the midterms were "playing with fire," and it comes the president doubles down on his push by calling for a new census. Governor Newsom had previously launched a redistricting effort to counter moves in other states that could increase GOP seats in the House. However, Newsom pledged in his letter that California would stand down if red states did the same.
