STATE SUPREME COURT REJECTS GOP REDISTRICTING SUIT
The California Supreme Court is rejecting a Republican challenge to Governor Gavin Newsom's redistricting plan. GOP lawmakers had petitioned the court in an attempt to block Democrats from redrawing the state's congressional districts. California lawmakers are expected to vote today on whether to place their new map before voters on the ballot. Newsom has pushed the redistricting plan in California as a way to counteract Texas GOP lawmakers re-drawing their district maps in an attempt to gain more Republican seats in the U.S. House before the midterm elections next year.
