Newsome $50K for Butte Co Cold Cases
Governor Gavin Newsom has reissued $50,000 rewards in unsolved cold cases to generate new leads and deliver justice for victims. The announcement highlights several unsolved crimes across California, including two in Butte County: the cases of Marc Thompson and Tyler Dickson. According to the Governor's Office, Marc Thompson was fatally shot while parked in a remote wooded area back in 2014. Tyler Dickson was also fatally shot while sleeping in a tent at a campsite back in 2021.
Under the state program, local law enforcement agencies can request these rewards after exhausting all investigative leads and believe that a financial incentive will help get people to come forward.
